Manchester City have no fresh injury concerns for Monday’s visit of Burnley.
Leroy Sane remains a doubt with a muscle injury, while captain Vincent Kompany is not yet ready to return from a knee problem.
Burnley’s record signing Jeff Hendrick is available after suspension and could replace Dean Marney, who must serve a ban after picking up his fifth booking of the season on New Year’s Eve.
Right-back Jon Flanagan will be missing because of a knee injury.
Steve Wilson: “On the face of it, a Manchester City slip up at home to Burnley seems highly unlikely but there’s no hiding that they are not playing that well just now.
“For all their possession in the defeat at Anfield, City created little and lacked the dynamism that a fully match-fit Aguero gives them – four weeks out left him looking understandably diminished.
“Oddly, City have never won at home to Burnley in the Premier League (okay, they’ve only played them twice – both drawn), so should be a little wary.
“With back-to-back wins over Middlesbrough and Sunderland, Burnley almost have a free hit here, in the sense they can afford to try their luck knowing that defeat is far from calamitous.”
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola: “Things could be better but I like working with these guys because they give me everything when they play and train and so the next game, we’ll try again.
“We are only entering the second half of the season and there is still more than five months to go so it’s a bit early to be worrying too much.
“All we must do is concentrate on the next game, which is Burnley, try to win that and then look to win two or three games in a row and carry on from there.”
Burnley manager Sean Dyche: “We’ve managed to get some points against the odds and that must continue.
“There’s a nice humility about us because we know that we’re not the real deal, we know that we’re not just going to run through the Premier League and run over everyone but there’s an inner belief.”
